Gummi Bears Volume 1 is a DVD release that compiles the first several episodes of the animated series. It tells the story of a once thriving civilization of small humanoid bears called the Gummi Bears who possess powerful magic and advanced technology. After a growing rivalry with humans the Gummi Bears flee across the sea leaving behind a small caretaker colony to prepare for a possible return. Generations later the colony has forgotten its purpose and the knowledge of the Gummi Bears has become mere legend among humans. The plot changes when the colony meets a boy who carries a Gummi Bear medallion that unlocks the Great Book of Gummi which reveals the lost knowledge of their past. The DVD includes the pilot episode and a selection of early adventures in which the colony works to rediscover their heritage with the help of a few trusted humans while trying to prevent the villainous Duke Igthorn from exploiting that heritage for his own ends. The release features the main characters such as the wise elder Gummi, the adventurous young bear, and the human boy who becomes an ally. It also contains bonus material including behind the scenes featurettes and a commentary track. The game was added to iOctavio.com on 2006-10-17.
