The DVD release of Men Who Stare At Goats in the United States presents a sprawling narrative that blends wartime intrigue with absurdist comedy. The story centers on a secret US Army unit officially known as the First Earth Battalion, which was purportedly activated in the 1980s to harness psychic abilities such as remote viewing, telekinesis, and mental persuasion as tools of modern warfare. George Clooney headlines the cast as Larry Virgil, a magnetic and enigmatic officer who champions the program with unwavering conviction, while Ewan McGregor portrays Bob Wilton, a skeptical journalist from a small publication who accompanies Virgil’s unit into the desert and whose perspective shifts from doubt to tentative belief as the demonstrations unfold.
