Jackie Brown is a 1997 American crime drama film directed by Quentin Tarantino that was released on DVD in the United States in 1999. The movie tells the story of a flight attendant named Jackie Brown who is caught smuggling cash for her boss Ordell Robbie and is subsequently arrested by federal agents Ray Nicolet and detective Mark Dargus. Faced with a choice between cooperating with the authorities and risking her life by staying silent she decides to work with bail bondsman Max Cherry who has fallen in love with her. Together they devise a scheme to turn Ordell and his partners Louis Gara and Melanie Ralston against each other in order to steal a large amount of money. The film runs for about 144 minutes and was praised for its ensemble cast and non linear storytelling. The movie combines suspenseful moments with witty dialogue and features a strong supporting cast including Samuel L Jackson Robert Forster Bridget Fonda and Pam Grier. The DVD release was handled by Miramax Home Entertainment and includes bonus material such as deleted scenes commentary tracks and behind the scenes featurettes.
