Fishing Masters WT, known in North America as Fishing Master World Tour, is a fishing simulation video game developed by Natsume for the Nintendo Wii and released in the United States in 2009. The game places the player in the role of an angler traveling to numerous real world inspired locations across continents such as North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Using the Wii Remote as a virtual fishing rod the player performs casting motions, controls the line tension with the Nunchuk and reacts to on screen prompts to set the hook and battle fish. The title features a career mode that progresses through a series of tournaments, a free fishing mode for relaxed play and a local multiplayer mode that allows two players to compete side by side. Over one hundred distinct fish species are available each with unique behavior patterns and preferred habitats and the player can unlock and upgrade a wide assortment of rods, reels, lines, lures and boats as they earn in game currency. The visual style is bright and cartoonish with animated water surfaces, dynamic weather effects and day night cycles that influence fish activity. Critics generally praised the intuitive motion controls and the breadth of content while noting that the gameplay loop can become repetitive after extended sessions and that the depth of simulation is lighter compared to dedicated PC fishing titles. The game was added to the iOctavio.com database on 2009-02-14 and was categorized under the Fishing genre to assist with web searches.
