Rock n Roll High School is a comedy DVD release in the United States that presents a chaotic and satirical story about the war between teenage rock culture and authoritarian school administration at Vince Lombardi High School. The school has a terrible track record with its leadership because every principal eventually suffers a nervous breakdown under the pressure of the students’ loud devotion to rock and roll and their total disregard for academic rules and discipline. Riff Randell is the charismatic and defiant student who leads the resistance, inspired entirely by her passionate fandom of the Ramones and their explosive music. The conflict intensifies when Miss Evelyn Togar is hired as the new principal, a woman who openly hates rock music and vows to destroy the musical craze that defines the student body’s identity. The situation escalates dramatically when Miss Togar teams up with a group of parents to burn a pile of rock records, an act of suppression that finally pushes the students over the edge and causes them to seize control of the high school in an act of outright rebellion. In a surreal and memorable development, the Ramones themselves show up and are declared honorary students, lending their legendary punk energy to the occupied school. The climax arrives when the police are called and demand that the students leave the building, which triggers a massive and explosive finale that combines physical chaos with a triumph of youthful spirit. The DVD release preserves the film’s raw energy and cult appeal for home audiences. Additionally, a game associated with this title was added to iOctavio.com on 2006-01-24.
